What We Do

We represent people in pursuit of claims against hospitals, doctors, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities; law firms and lawyers; and the owners and operators of premises, vehicles, and machines. These cases include catastrophic injury, medical malpractice, legal malpractice, serious auto accidents, premises liability cases, and civil rights violations. If you wish to share a concern about a potential case with our firm, click here or call (248) 540-3333. We also handle selected contractual and other commercial disputes on behalf of people, groups, and companies. We are not, and do not aim to be, a law firm that handles every conceivable legal matter for every potential client. We are trial lawyers who pursue serious cases for people who have suffered or face significant harm.
We also devote significant time to civic activities as attorneys and as citizens. Tom Howlett currently serves as vice-president of the State Bar of Michigan and is a former president of the Oakland County Bar Association. Dean Googasian is the immediate past president of the Oakland County Bar Association.

Whom We Help

Our clients come from every walk of life and socioeconomic level.
Nearly all of our clients, regardless of their background, have two things in common: First, they find themselves — through no fault of their own — harmed or heartbroken. Second, they never thought they would be considering taking legal action against someone.
Our clients usually share something else: They have come to our firm for help at the recommendation of another lawyer or law firm or a former client, and they are looking for someone to guide them through the legal system and champion their cause.
We strive never to lose sight of the exceptional, bewildering, and often tragic circumstances that have brought our clients to our doorstep.

Philosophy

Our philosophy is simple: we are committed to remaining at the forefront of our profession while staying true to some time-honored beliefs.
We believe that a firm of trial lawyers earns a reputation for excellence through — and only through — an unyielding commitment to results, respect, and civility:
  • Results achieved in and out of the courtroom;
  • Respect for clients whose lives often have been broken; and
  • Civility toward all those whose paths we cross while seriously and aggressively pursuing our clients' claims.
Put another way, we seek justice for our clients in a manner that properly reflects the high quality of the people whom we have the privilege of representing.

Pursuing a lawsuit

The overwhelming majority of our clients have never been involved in a lawsuit, and they had never considered taking legal action prior to a recent life-changing event, like a serious injury case.
We are mindful of the aversion to lawsuits and difficulties in pursuing cases in this day and age.
That is why we recommend pursuing a lawsuit only after a careful investigation and an assessment of whether the case appears to be one in which our skills and experience could produce a successful and meaningful result for our clients.

Reputation

Our firm enjoys and strives hard to maintain a reputation throughout Michigan based both on results in the courtroom and conduct in and outside the courthouse.
The vast majority of our clients come to us at the recommendation of another lawyer or a former client in Michigan or elsewhere. We value our reputation as lawyers who take care of other lawyers' clients, family members, and friends in times of crisis and need.
Our reputation for the successful and dignified representation of people is personified by our founder, George Googasian. National, state, and local bar associations and legal groups have bestowed upon George their highest awards for contributions to the legal community. Led by George's record of professional achievement, our firm is widely recognized for achieving meaningful and significant results for clients with honor and decency. Partners Thomas H. Howlett, Craig M. Weber, and Dean M. Googasian continue to expand the firm's reputation in Michigan and beyond.

Selecting a Law Firm

Choosing a lawyer is the single most difficult and important decision facing people seeking help and guidance in the wake of a catastrophe or a serious event. We encourage people to decide whom to hire only after careful reflection.
Hundreds of attorneys refer their clients, family members, and friends to our firm, confident in our firm's tradition of excellence and the professional manner in which we strive to help people.
Each prospective client meets with one or more of our attorneys prior to deciding whether to engage the firm. No fee is charged for an initial consultation. No request is ever made by our firm during an initial consultation to commit to hiring the firm.
If you wish to confer with one of our attorneys about a matter relating to a catastrophic injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, legal malpractice, auto accident, or premises accident, click here or call (248) 540-3333.
